Opportunities for Start-Ups in India: Explained by Mr. TS Darbari
Mr. TS Darbari believes that there are numerous opportunities for startups in India. Though the emergence of startups is relatively new in India that got a major push only after ‘Make In India‘ movement initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. It will get more boost as a result of the government’s push for “Aatm Nirbhar Bharat“. According to Mr. TS Darbari– “There are great opportunities for startups in India despite several challenges.”
According to Mr. T S Darbari, there are following opportunities for startups in India:
- Huge Customer Base: According to Mr. TS Darbari, “The vast population of India can be seen as an opportunity for startups in India.” According to an estimate, Mr. TS Darbari says, by 2020 working-age population in India would surpass the non-working age population which shows that the buying capacity of the Indian population would increase with the passage of time. Mr. Darbari considers it a good opportunity for startups and young entrepreneurs in India.
- The mindset of New Working Class Support Startups: Mr. TS Darbari says that traditional career paths have given space to startups. Youth and even their parents have started to prefer startups than traditional career options. Mr. TS Darbari mentions that even high profile executives are quitting their jobs either to become an entrepreneur or to work for a startup.
- Investments in Start-Ups: Investors from India and other countries are investing in startups in India. Mr. TS Darbari mentions that Indian tech startups raised almost $15bn in 2019. India is one of the most sought-after destinations in the word- Mr. TS Darbari adds further.
- Government Initiatives: Mr. TS Darbari mentions several government and semi-government initiatives to support startups and young entrepreneurs. He gives a list of government initiatives:- Mudra Yojna, Startup India, SETU (Self-Employment and Talent Utilization), E-Biz Portal and there have been a lot of schemes announced by Hon’ble Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in May-June 2020 for MSMEs.
